নগদ এখন ডাক অধিদপ্তরের ব্র্যান্ড ব্যবহার করছে। এতে ডাক অধিদপ্তরের কোনো মালিকানা নেই 
দেশে মোবাইল ফোনে অর্থ লেনদেনের ক্ষেত্রে ‘নগদ’ এখন বেশ পরিচিত একটি নাম। মাত্র আড়াই বছরে তুমুল প্রতিযোগিতার মধ্য দিয়ে নগদ যেভাবে বাজারের বড় একটা অংশ নিয়ন্ত্রণে নিয়েছে, সেভাবে আগে কেউ পারেনি।তবে এখনো নগদের মালিকানা ও ব্যবসা পরিচালনা নিয়ে যে জটিলতা, সেটির সুরাহা হয়নি। নগদকে সরকারের ডাক অধিদপ্তর সেবা হিসেবে প্রচার করা হলেও এর মালিকানায় ডাক অধিদপ্তরের কোনো অস্তিত্ব নেই। আবার আর্থিক সেবা দিলেও কেন্দ্রীয় ব্যাংকের কোনো চূড়ান্ত অনুমোদন নেই নগদের।
এই অবস্থায় নগদের সেবাকে আইনি কাঠামোর আওতায় এনে এটাকে পাবলিক লিমিটেড কোম্পানিতে রূপান্তরের প্রক্রিয়া শুরু হয়েছে। তাতে নগদের ৫১ শতাংশ মালিকানা থাকবে ডাক অধিদপ্তরের কাছে। বাকি ৪৯ শতাংশ পাবেন এখনকার মালিকেরা। নগদকে আইনি কাঠামোয় আনার জন্য সরকার ও বাংলাদেশ ব্যাংক আপাতত এমন পরিকল্পনাই করেছে বলে জানা গেছে।
ডাক অধিদপ্তরের মহাপরিচালক (ডিজি) সিরাজ উদ্দিন বলেন, নগদ এখন ডাক অধিদপ্তরের ব্র্যান্ড ব্যবহার করছে। এতে ডাক অধিদপ্তরের কোনো মালিকানা নেই। তাই ৫১ শতাংশ মালিকানা নিতে ডাক অধিদপ্তরের অধীনে একটি কোম্পানি গঠন করা হচ্ছে। এরপর ৯ সদস্যের নতুন পরিচালনা পর্ষদ গঠিত হবে। পর্ষদে চেয়ারম্যানসহ পাঁচজন পরিচালক হবেন সরকারের প্রতিনিধি।
সিরাজ উদ্দিন আরও বলেন, ‘মালিকানা নিতে আমরা কোনো টাকা দেব না। নগদ শুরু থেকে আমাদের ব্র্যান্ড ব্যবহার করছে। এর মূল্যমান হিসেবে নগদের ৫১ শতাংশ মালিকানা পাবে ডাক অধিদপ্তর। এ জন্য বিভিন্ন মন্ত্রণালয়ের মতামত চাওয়া হয়েছে। আশা করছি চলতি বছরের মধ্যে সব প্রক্রিয়া সম্পন্ন হবে। এরপর কেন্দ্রীয় ব্যাংকের অধীনে অন্যান্য এমএফএস প্রতিষ্ঠানের মতো চলবে নগদ।

In this situation, the process of converting the cash service under a legal framework to a public limited company has begun. In that, 51 % of the cash will be owned by the postal department. The current owners will get the remaining 49 percent. It is reported that the government and the Bangladesh Bank have planned such a plan for now to bring the cash into the legal framework.
Cash is now using the postal department brand, said the director-general (DG) Siraj Uddin. The Postal Department has no ownership in this. So a company is being formed under the postal department to take 51 percent ownership. After this, a new board of directors of 9 members will be formed. Five directors including the chairman of the council will be the representatives of the government.
Siraj Uddin also said, ' We will not pay any money to take ownership. Cash has been using our brand since the start. Postal department will get 51 % ownership of cash as its value. Opinions of various ministries have been asked for this. Hopefully all processes will be completed by this year. After that cash will run like other mfs institutions under central bank. '
